Firefighters tend man who burned hands during fire at Blantyre hotel

Scottish Fire and Rescue Service (SFRS) evacuate building and ensure safety

Firefighters tended to a man who burned his hands during a small fire at a hotel at the weekend.

The hotel staff member suffered slight injuries when the fire broke out at the entrance of the two storey building.

SFRS crew checked him over before calling an ambulance.

They also evacuated the hotel in Glasgow Road, Blantyre, Lanarkshire moments after arriving at 10.45pm on Saturday, 20 February, 2016.

Firefighters extinguished the fire and ensured it had not spread before clearing slight smoke from first floor bedrooms.

The employee was being assessed by ambulance crew when SFRS left the scene at around 11.30pm.
