Our Strategic Leadership Team (SLT)

Based in Cambuslang, our Strategic Leadership Team (SLT) is responsible for delivering the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service on behalf of the Board.

Ross Haggart, Chief Officer

Ross is Chief Officer for the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service.

Stuart Stevens, Deputy Chief Officer

Stuart Stevens is our Deputy Chief Officer, previously Director of Service Delivery. 


Liz Barnes, Director of People and Organisational Development, Interim Deputy Chief Officer

Liz Barnes is our Director of People and Organisational Development and currently Interim Deputy Chief Officer. The post has responsibility for providing leadership and strategic direction across the corporate functions within the Service including the following areas, People and Organisational Development, Strategic Planning and Performance, Communications and Engagement, Finance and Procurement.


David Farries, Assistant Chief Officer

David Farries is Assistant Chief Officer with responsibility for Service Delivery.


Andrew Watt, Director of Training, Safety and Assurance

Assistant Chief Officer Andrew Watt has responsibility for ensuring that the SFRS can provide a safe and effective operational response to emergencies when they occur. 


David Lockhart, Director of Service Development

Assistant Chief Officer David Lockhart has responsibility for developing the service to meet existing and future community needs.


Mark McAteer, Director of Strategic Planning, Performance and Communications

Mark leads our strategic planning, performance management, communication and engagement and corporate business support team.


Iain Morris, Acting Director of Asset Management

Iain Morris has responsibility for the management of all the Service's assets within the Property, Fleet and Equipment portfolios including all elements of SFRS Research & Development, and our Sustainability and Environmental Responsibilities.


John Thomson, Acting Director of Finance and Procurement

John is responsible for the effective financial management and governance of the Service’s financial resources and the procuring of goods and services in line with public sector procurement regulations.
