More than 30 firefighters extinguish fire in Stirling City Centre

MORE than 30 firefighters worked to extinguish a large fire in Stirling’s historic city centre.

Operations Control mobilised a total of seven appliances to the three-storey residential building on Murray Place after the alarm was raised at 6.15pm on Friday, February 16.

Firefighters worked through the night to extinguish the fire and prevent spread to nearby buildings.

There were no injuries.

Crews remain on scene as they work to make the area safe.

Roddie Keith is the Local Senior Officer for Stirling and Clackmannanshire.

He said: “The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service responded quickly and effectively to this incident.

“Our priorities were protecting the community from harm and preventing further damage to property in this historic area of the city.

“On arrival the fire was already well developed - but quick and decisive action ensured that the fire was contained to one area and extinguished.

“I am proud of all our firefighters and wish to thank our partners for their assistance in bringing this incident to a safe conclusion."
