The celebrations brought together the 18-strong group, and their families, at Hamilton Fire Station on Friday 7 June, where they received their Long Service Good Conduct medals.

Assistant Chief Officer Lewis Ramsay presented the medals with Deputy Assistant Chief Officer John Miller opening and closing the ceremony. Local Senior Officer for the City of Glasgow, Jim Hymas, had the honour of reading The Royal Warrant and Board members Lesley Bloomer and Tim Wright were also in attendance.

ACO Ramsay said: “It was a huge honour to present the medals, in recognition of some of our colleagues incredible hard work dedication.

“The ceremony gives us the opportunity to formally recognise and reward examples of long service and exemplar commitment to the Service and the communities they serve.

“Our firefighters continually demonstrate their unwavering commitment to keep Scotland safe, I relish the opportunity to personally thank them for that in the presence of their families.”
