Scottish Fire and Rescue Service was called to attend a house fire in the Tarbert area of the Isle of Harris yesterday (24 January 2016).

Operations control received the call at 12.18pm and appliances from Tarbert, Leverburgh and Scalpay attended.

Crews in breathing apparatus equipped with a hose reel jet entered the property, located and rescued a female. The fire was extinguished by 12.56pm.

The woman was placed in the care of paramedics before being taken to hospital for treatment.

The last appliance left the scene at 3.45pm. Enquiries are ongoing in conjunction with Police Scotland to establish the cause of the fire.
