The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service and emergency service partners were alerted to a fire within a first floor flat at Renfew Road in Paisley at 9pm on Friday, June 19.

SFRS Operations Control mobilised six appliances to the scene and crews extinguished the fire at 12.50am on Saturday, June 20.

Three children - aged 5, 8 and 12 - were thereafter taken to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital in Glasgow and sadly died a short time later. A 39-year-old woman was taken to the Royal Alexandra Hospital in Paisley where she remains and her condition is now described as not life threatening.  

A joint investigation was launched and Police in Renfrewshire and Inverclyde have confirmed that the fire is not being treated as suspicious however enquiries are continuing. A report has been submitted to the Procurator Fiscal.
