Crews remain at large grass fire in Cumbernauld

Firefighters remain in attendance at a large grass fire in Cumbernauld that started on Thursday 10 April.
As a precaution, members of the public are being asked to avoid the area and those who live nearby are advised to close windows and doors due to the smoke in the vicinity.
Six fire appliances remain at the scene and crews are expected to be there for a considerable time.
A Scottish Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson said: “We were alerted at 8.40pm on Thursday, 10 April, to reports of a large area of grass on fire in the Fannyside Road area, Cumbernauld.
“Operations Control mobilised six fire appliances to the scene, where firefighters are still working to extinguish a fire affecting three large areas of grass.
“As a precaution, members of the public are being asked to avoid the area and those in the local area should close windows and doors."
Fannyside Road and Arns Road remain closed at this time.
There are no reported casualties.
Firefighters are expected to remain at the scene for some time to make the area safe.
