A woman has sadly passed away following a house fire yesterday evening in Paisley.

The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service (SFRS) was alerted at 10.37pm on Thursday, 13 April to reports of a dwelling fire on Belmont Road in the Gallowhill area.

Area Commander David McCarrey is the SFRS Local Senior Officer for East Renfrewshire, Renfrewshire and Inverclyde. He said: “Six fire appliances and two aerial rescue platforms were mobilised to the scene, where crews extinguished a well-developed fire that had taken hold within a first floor flat in a two-storey building.
