Three King’s Fire Service Medals awarded on His Majesty’s Birthday Honours
Three members of staff from the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service (SFRS) have been awarded the King’s Fire Service Medal (KFSM) after each serving for around 30 years.
Two colleagues have now received their King’s Fire Service Medals (KFSM) at a ceremony which was held at Holyrood Palace.
Crew Commander and dog handler Gary Carroll and on call firefighter Lorraine Taylor received their medals from HRH Princess Anne.
CC Carroll is based at Portlethen Training Centre where he also looks after urban search and rescue dogs Corrie and Mac. He has been deployed overseas on four separate occasions.
Firefighter Taylor became one of the first female firefighters when she joined the Service. She is part of the on call team at Tarbet Community Fire Station in the East and West Dunbartonshire, Argyll and Bute area. She balances her on call role with full time employment for Calmac.
