Threat of wildfires extended

The wildfire warning that has been in place since Wednesday has been extended in parts of Scotland.

The fire danger assessment has been graded as extreme from Saturday 22 to Sunday 23 April for parts of Northern Scotland, the Western Isles and Northern Isles.

The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service is urging people to act responsibly while in the countryside as the threat of wildfire spikes in these areas.

A mixture of seasonal weather conditions combined with very dry and dead vegetation means a heightened risk of fire.
